Frequently Asked Questions
1. How do lockscreen ads work with Fire Max 11’s fingerprint ID feature?
Once you have enrolled in Fingerprint ID on the Fire Max 11 (we recommend enrolling both index fingers), you will be able to unlock your device by touching your finger to the power button. If you have a tablet that is ad-supported, unlocking it will bring up a lockscreen ad. Simply swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get to the home screen. Amazon Fire tablets use lockscreen ads to bring you lower prices. You can remove ads on your tablet by selecting the “without ads” box at the top of this page, or by going to Manage Your Content and Devices page and selecting the “Special Offers” if you have already purchased a tablet.
2. Do I need the Keyboard Case, Made for Amazon Stylus Pen, or cover?
No. While these accessories unlock new ways to use and benefit from your Fire Max 11, they are not required for day-to-day use. The Keyboard Case connects magnetically to the Fire Max 11. No set up is necessary and the keyboard does not require separate power or charging. As with all Fire tablets, you can connect Fire Max 11 to compatible accessories, like BT keyboards, mice, headphones and more. The Made for Amazon Stylus Pen uses the Universal Stylus Interface 2.0 (USI2.0). While any other USI2.0 stylus may work with the Fire Max 11, they will not have the same features available to them on the tablet, such as magnetic attachment or using custom button configurations. Like the Fire Max 11 cover, other covers may also work with magnetic attachment. If those covers have magnets in different places, it may interrupt some functionality of your Fire Max 11.
3. Where can I find out how to use the Keyboard Case shortcut keys, trackpad gestures or other features of the Made for Amazon Stylus Pen?
Tutorials and helpful references for both accessories can be found in the Settings app under Fire Tablet Accessories.
4. Are there eligibility limitations for the 3-month trial to Microsoft 365 Personal?
Yes. If you had a trial or subscription to Microsoft 365 Personal within the last year, you are not eligible for the 3-month trial.
5. How do I sign up for the 3-month trial to Microsoft 365 Personal?
You can sign up for the trial through the Microsoft 365 (Office) app, available on the Amazon Appstore. The trial is also available on the Microsoft 365 (Office) app detail page on your Fire Max 11.
6. How does the 1-year limited warranty work?
When you purchase a new or Certified Refurbished Device, we warrant the device against defects in materials and workmanship under ordinary consumer use for one year from the date of original retail purchase. If there is damage to the device such as a broken or cracked display, we urge you not to continue to use the device. Click here for the full details of our 1-year limited warranty.

Good, but not great
The Fire Max 11 has many positives. It's really premium feeling, and for a non-OLED/AMOLED screen, the display is crisp and clear. Using this to watch films or series is a good experience, and for the price, especially if you can get it on offer, it outdoes itself. The long update/security update promise from Amazon is probably better than almost anything else you will get from a tablet at this price point. The fact you can upgrade its storage with an SD card is great, and something that isn't always an option for modern tablets and phones. The new stylus functionality is good. The fact you can buy a POGO pin attached keyboard means you can use this device for productivity, especially if you subscribe to Office (although there are other options available in the limited Amazon app store). I won't review the case, stylus, and keyboard here, but it's nice to have these as an option, and they make the look, feel, and experience using this tablet more premium. There are some drawbacks. Of course, the limited app store has to be mentioned. Although you can get many of the most popular apps, but many, most notably those making use of the new stylus, are lacking. This model doesn't have a headphone jack, which may be a drawback to some users. The fingerprint scanner works okay. It's not fantastic, and it is on the power button, which can be a bit of a pain depending on the mode you are using. There doesn't seem to be any way of enabling a mode where it doesn't lock without totally disabling the lock screen (i.e. when you have it attached to your headphones or on body detection). And speaking of lock screen, there's no tap to wake mode. So, even if you want to use a pin or just swipe to unlock, you need to tap the power button. Fire tablets haven't been called “Kindle Fires” in about a decade. However, a lot of people still consider them as a Kindle, or at least, a replacement for one for those who don't want or can't afford to own both devices. I personally mostly read on my Kindle, but I like to use tablets to read image heavy books. I have to say that the Kindle app for the Fire Max 11 is a downgrade from the Android Kindle app or even the Kindle app on the Fire 10 from a few years back. First, if you want to read something on this app, the title and tag line (in the photo you can see the “TikTok made me buy it” tag line) isn't hideable. This is a problem in earlier Fire tablets as well. It is very distracting, and thankfully not a “feature” in the Android app. The other issue is the lack of font options. There are around half the available fonts for this Fire tablet than the Fire tablet 10 a few generations ago, and the OpenDyslexic font is included in the omissions. This is an accessibility issue. I am not sure why Amazon thought it was a good idea to not only limit choice in fonts for a device you can't load your own fonts to (unlike a regular Kindle) but to remove a font that some people use to make it easier for them to read. If you're looking to use this to read on, maybe lower your expectations, buy a Kindle, or use an app on another tablet or phone. Overall, I think this was a good purchase, but I do wish that some little issues weren't there. They add up, and remove the potential for this to be a really good budget device.

Its 11-inch HD screen is good for streaming, reading, and browsing. It’s lightweight, sturdy, and handles everyday tasks like apps and videos well. However, the app store is limited compared to regular Android tablets. If you use Amazon a lot, this tablet offers great value for the price.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 13 November 2023Digital Storage Capacity: 128 GBConfiguration: with AdsColour Name: GreyStyle Name: Fire Max 11Verified PurchaseI'm really enjoying using the new Kindle Fire Max which was a replacement for an older version. It's solidly made and , more importantly, takes extra memory cards to extend the space available for storage. Battery life is pretty good - it does last at least for a couple of days but I suppose this would depend heavily on how and when you use it. It's very sleek in its design (and this does cause a slight problem as I can never find the power key on the first attempt!) with non slip feet. It's solidly built so this means that the weight is distributed fairly evenly - in my hands it doesn't seem to sit comfortably and needs to be propped up on something for extended use. Recently I bought a fine nib pen for it [not the Amazon stylus] and am able to write notes with the keyboard input pane. This is particularly useful and is fairly accurate ( possibly 70-80%) although some interesting alternative words are often inserted and the writing area positioning means that I often close the app by mistake.
Initially the Fire Max came with a layout that I didn't like - this is customisable so I was delighted to be able to remove the 'app suggestions' and "you might like this" strip that originally appeared on the screen [this is not the same as the "advertising" or "not advertising" versions that put an ad on the lock screen, but additional advertising in the guise of 'helpful suggestions']. The need to connect this tablet directly to a bluetooth headphone/speaker set is a sign of things to come although the speakers inbuilt are fine for short durations [and of course you can always link it to your Alexa]. I did try and remove the passcode to get into the machine, as its only used at home , but wasn't able to accomplish this although reviews on the web say that it is possible - later I discovered the nifty little fingerprint scanner in the power key.
As for all Kindles, this machine is expected just to use programs from the Amazon App store which does limit some areas (I can't find a Whats App application but have now managed to get Onenote running again - something I issed on my old Kindle). The Kindle app seems much clearer for reading on the screen and the link to home automation is welcome (although it doesn't seem to pick up the Meross plugs around my house)
In all though, its a great successor to the previous Kindle (that I had until the external card reading stopped working properly) which is clear, easy to use and with enough storage capacity that I don't need to be concerned about adding new programmes to it.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 October 2024Digital Storage Capacity: 64 GBConfiguration: with AdsColour Name: GreyStyle Name: Fire Max 11Verified PurchaseBought it as a refurb for £100 and so think that is a fair price for the unit. Installed Google Play and so got the apps I wanted. If that had not worked then I would not rate this item at all. Installed a 512gb card so storage is no problem.
Great for travelling with as I can download lots of films and the audio is good enough to listen to films etc. Battery seems good so far and I am not taking my macbook on holiday now as I can just use this device.
It is not amazing. it is just good as a basic tablet for entertainment and stuff. I bought it after having a 7 and 8 Fire tablet. I think the size of this is very good and convenient. Build quality is also good, just a shame the OS is not better when you first buy it as it was an interesting process to get the Play store to install on it, plenty of youtube on how to do this though.
So if you are happy with the idea of a basic tablet then this is good at the refurb price.
Update after 6 months is the battery is still good.
I have it in a simple case and keep looking at the Amazon keyboard- but cannot justify the price, may wait for a Prime sale to slash the price to something more realistic.
I also find that having WhatsApp on the tablet a really good experience as you can manage multiple messaging with the big screen easier.

Cons:
The tablet runs on Amazon’s Fire OS, which means it lacks access to the Google Play Store and some popular apps. The device charges relatively slowly, which can be inconvenient if you’re in a hurry.
Overall, the Amazon Fire Max 11 is a great value for its price, especially for Amazon Prime subscribers who can take full advantage of the Amazon ecosystem. Its large display and solid performance make it a good option for media consumption and basic productivity tasks.
